Joan Condell

Senior Lecturer in Computing and Mathematics / Predictive control of integrated battery and Compressed Air Energy Storage

Dr Joan Condell has published over 180 papers and actively secured grants from external sources with a total income over £10.8M. Her research areas include imaging and digital intelligent technologies in security, wearables, energy and associated application areas. She was co-investigator on an EU FP7 robotics project (I’m Clever) for €5.9M which successfully completed in 2013 and is currently principal investigator on EU Interreg projects (SENDoc and CINE) for €3.9M.

She is also principal investigator on a charity award alongside clinicians in Altnagelvin hospital with Irish, Spanish and Portuguese clinical research partners. Dr Condell is CEO of a university spinout and has numerous patents filed in UK and US; she has won Innovation and Enterprise awards for commercialisation work and bio-entrepreneurship.
