
Senior Scientific Officer / Biomass production through the sustainable Recycling of Irrigated Landfill Leachate (BRILL)
Linda has been working in the Biomass Renewables R&D section of AFBI (Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute) since 2004 and has been involved in many aspects of biomass energy research projects .
Her research areas/ interests include:
- Short Rotation Coppice (SRC) willow agronomy
- Evaluation of harvesting and drying techniques for SRC willow
- SRC willow crop genotype testing
- Evaluation of willow genotypes best suited to Northern Ireland conditions
- Nutrient responses for SRC willow
- Planting strategies to minimise rust damage to willow plants
- Environmental impacts of growing SRC willow
- Energy crops combined with phytoremediation and waste management (farm, municipal and landfill leachates)
- Improving miscanthus yields through agronomy
- Potential of various materials as a leachate filtration function
